Creating an effect "plugin" within the Source Settings

I wondered if anyone here might be able to inform me to what degree tools can be created for the Source Settings window.

For instance, could you create a plugin that could apply an effect at bin level - for example a Boris plugin or Baselight plugin?

That way the effect could be loaded into the source monitor and would be inherent within a clip - obviously this couldn't be rendered so this would be with a performance hit but all the same I'm interested in if it's possible within the SDK.

To my knowledge the current SDK does not support the addition of any effects to the Source Settings window.
