Trying to export as a file my film as a MP4. In AVID the video and sound play but when I export the file with both video and audio checked I get the video but no sound. Just trying to get a version to email friends to view.
What type of audio codec did you select? Some players won't accept PCM sound on an h264 mp4. Should work if you use AAC.
Thank you for the fast reply. I used PCM. When I get home later today I will switch it to AAC - I saw the two options and stuck with the default of PCM. That's what I was also wondering was my default Windows Media Player couldn't handle the audio whereas Youtube or Vimeo being essentially media players would regardless of PCM or AAC. But I was hoping to avoid putting my film on Youtube even in private mode.
I use Handbrake, Preset >Web >Vimeo Youtube HQ1080p60. The result is a highly compressed mp4.mv4 file with AAC audio in good overall quality.

I love Handbrake, but have switched to Shutter Encoder for most jobs. Also, MC 2020.4 and later do a great job at exporting directly to h264. Quick and great quality.
Job ter Burg:Why the conversion to 60p?
I see no alternatvie "50p" in handbrake. However after export I checked the file in media info, and it says 50p.
If you dive into the Picture settings you should see there's a frame rate option, including one that remains the existing framerate.
The switch to AAC worked thank you. I would add in regards to the other replies...
In my case exporting as a file one has to remember to have the codec remain the same as your video whereas mine was AVC Intra 100. Otherwise video degradation will occur. The export options you have to change the codec from H264, DNXHD(?) to AVC Intra 100 in the drop down window and use a MOV container file. Then in the import window of a new AVID project you must change the codec from H264 Proxy to AVC Intra 100. Youtube accepts MOV files where now I can list it as private and share it with colleagues, friends and family.

I got it, thank you.
