    Practical question re MacOS versions

    Hello.

I am considering buying a Silicon MacBook Pro and I plan on using MC on it.

Problem: Buying a laptop may have the latest iteration of the OS running on it, which is not supported by AVID - yet.

Question: Where can I find previous versions of the OS so I may install them on my new machine?

    Thanks!

Apple does not normally allow you to roll back a Mac OS beyond the version it shipped with.

Avid generally support the current OS when they release a version. So it shouldn't be much of a wait.

Thanks, Pat. I am just a very impatient person when it regards technologyWink

Re: Practical question re MacOS versions

(Sorry - this should be in the PT forum, not MC)

FWIW I just finished setting up a new MacStudio M1 Ultra with ProTools, Melodyne, SoundToys, UA, SD3, Bias, etc.  I installed everything from scratch, didn't do a migration from my old MacMini.  It's running Monterey 12.3 and ProTools (not Ultimate) works fine.  I opened a session that used to cause CPU issues on my Mini with 1024 and 2GB of HD cache.  I set the cache down to normal and set the playback engine to 32 and it runs fast and great.  I can't wait to do some tracking.
