I have a problem on Avid isis 5500 if I try to bind the storage it gives me the following error message: "unable to complete operation. Storage manager is initializing". On megaraid the raid seems ok and working with 3 active virtual drives. if i try to run the avid isis software it tells me that the raid has problems what do you think it could be? Thanks Alessandro
You can try rebuilding the RAID set.

thanks for the answer I tried to rebuild the raid even if I used the megaraid procedure, I did rebuild the raid but unfortunately it always gives me the same error. Do you think I should still try the procedure you indicated to me?
Yes, try the procedure.
Hi,
With that procedure you will of course loose all your data. I'm wondering how you ended up in this situation? Did you re-image the ISIS? Did you update it for example to 4.7.13? Did you have a power failure?

I reinstalled with the usb recovery and reinstalled from scratch isis 4.7.13. I did not have any problems with the power supply, but one morning when I turned on the system after a period of inactivity, the operating system no longer loaded me and entered an infinite loop of restarts, so I decided to reimage the system, I replaced 2 defective hard drives and reset the raid from megaraid and reinstalled the software. The LEDs on the panel are all green but it gives me the problem that it does not allow me to bind

Ok,
On desktop on the bottom right you see your storage manager.
First check the ISIS network configuration tool and confirm network card configuration is correct. 10G, 4x 1G or direct connect and the ip(s) is (are) correct. One link needs to be up for the system director to connect to the storage manager. Apply if needed and reboot.
Now access https://localhost:5015/ On the first tab does it say running and normal operation?
Go to the last tab.Advanced. If you have no data to keep click unbind.
I tried to do all the steps you indicated but unfortunately the system tells me "Unbound" and if I try to "bing" it gives me an error. Now I'm trying to follow the procedure for the raid but it gives me another error I am attaching a photo
Can you share screenshots of the intel and megaraid storage managers to check the OS raid1 and 3 raid5 sets and hot spare are correctly configured?
they were definitely configured well with virtual 0, virtual1 and virtual 2 and drive 16 as spare but now I have reset the raid (the configuration and trying to reconfigure it from the beginning gives me this error you saw on the screenshot

i suppose an hardware raid controller fail...
So what does the megaraid utility show now?
I have seen issues with the SAS expander on both ISIS 5000 (firmware) and 5500 (hardware failure). But in those cases the problems also show in the megaraid utility.
rebuilding the raid I broke 2 hard drives. at the moment i stopped the system. I don't think it's worth repairing I have hard drives (4 already replaced) older than 5 years old and they are failing in succession. I think the time has come to "retire him". Thank you very much for your availability.
Allessandro,
If these are 4TB drives from a 64TB unit you can expect all of them to fail within months, maybe a year. It is a characteristic of the Western digital 4TB drives. If this is a 32TB unit with 2TB drives the degradation of the drives is more gradual.
If you intend to sell the unit for parts, please PM me.
I wrote you more privately (on your website form)
