Hi,
I'm a film student. I'm making a music video and used blue screen outside while filming. I'm guessing I should edit the blue screen clips first before inputting them into my project?? Also, is there a really good video tutorial about how to edit when blue screen was used?
One final question: is it possible to layer videos and/or pictures onto other videos in AMC/First? Or do I need an FX program to add things like fire and people where no blue screen was used?
Thanks.

You can do an awful lot in Avid Media Composer, without having to go into after effects :)
Here's a tutorial on Green Screen: https://youtu.be/BdtOEdUI5eI
The effect to Key out a screen is called "SpectraMatte"
Thanks, Philip!
So helpful! =)

All good my friend. GL with Uni/school/college.
Hi Again,
I have MC/First and it doesn't have SpectraMatte. I did find a youtube video on how to remove the background but it takes some of the image that I want to keep. Any tips to fix this?
Thansk!

Type in "SpectraMatte" into your effect palette. It's possible that the MC first versions do not include the spectramatte effect. I know that MC first definitely does not include AniMatte for example.
Hi Philip,
MC First uses Key > RGBKeyer instead of Spectramatte. This is easy to use. However, it takes away part of the foreground that I want to keep. I found a video a week or so ago about adding some color effects to the background but I haven't been able to find that video again.
I'm thinking if I can get the background to be a different color, I'll be able to successfully use the RBGKeyer???
I have no idea but I have to have a rough draft by tomorrow. I've been watching a ton of video tutorials but I haven't found one that addresses this issue I have.
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks!

With spectramatte or boris FX (Boris FX provides third party plugins for Avid) there are some spill controls so you can refine the key a bit. To be honest with you, I'm not 100% sure what the controls are on MC Firsts "RGBKeyer" effect but I might have the time to do a video screenshare with you one time to show you how SpectraMatte works. Let me know.
