I'm going to post this one in the ACSR list as well and it might be Media composer also plays a role.
On 2 independent sites we get the same report back after updating their editing systems to Media composer 2021.9. connected to a Nexis E4 or Nexis pro. One site on Nexis client 20.7.5 (nexis pro), the other on the 'stable' 2021.3.1. (E4) When using the pan & zoom effect with jpg's on the Nexis, Media composer randomly crashes to the desktop. When this happens all Nexis workspaces become inaccessible, and the systems need to be restarted which points to an issue with Nexis client.
Other common factor is that the pictures used in the pan & zoom effect reside in a 3-5 subfolder deep level on the Nexis.
It resembles issues seen with Nexis client 2021.5.x and 2021.8.x on other systems, both Avid and 3rd party, for which Avid released a knowledgebase article, but on those systems on which we saw these issues, Nexis client 2021.3.x has been stable.
