Thank you for the links Philip, unfortunately things are going from bad to worse. As I could'nt uninstall 2021.6 I used a 3rd party program to force uninstal. I also removed registery entries etc. But now no matter what version I'm trying to install I get the following error message... even though MC is not installed...

 

An unsupported version of Avid Media Composer is already installed. Upgrade cannot continue. To configure or remove the unsupported version, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel

There are a few mentions on the forum about this error but no solution is posted...

 

And that's why we don't download MC from external sources :)

Try uninstalling every Avid program you have and delete the Avid folders in the Program files folders.

The external download was from videohelp dot com and seemed legit.

Not sure if a support case will help though, never had any luck with those..

I'm sorry to hear that! In that case - I don't really know what else you could try!

Create a support case, and let us know how it goes. 

I spend a couple days longer cleaning every refference to MC in regedit and I was able to reinstall it, but now I can't export anything... must be something in the export settings but cant figure it out what... console doesn't clear it it up for me...

I don't have the strength anymore because how many times can I write. Reinstall all Windows, install Avid and use backup and then incremental backup. If something happens to you, restore everything after 10 minutes. Think about how much time you have lost. I use Paragon backup and I have no problems.

I'm not sure how, but updating ProTools to the 2021.10 version solved my media composer export issues... weird but true! Probably video engine related I guess..
