Just purchased, IT set up as nas for 2 users but MC does not recognise the nas. Any papers on getting MC working with NAS?
Do the volumes mount on the desktop? If Media Composer doesn't see the volumes you can type AllDrives into the console. If it does, congratulations that's how it works. There's third party software to spoof NEXIS for bin locking, it still doesn't make it a NEXIS and doesn't have all the features of NEXIS.

Bob Zelin would be the one to set you up properly.

You couldn't pay me to use QNAP; there are constant security vulnerabilities they are slow to resolve. Whatever you do, don't connected it to the Internet.

Or buy a NEXIS|PRO and know it will work.
Agreed. I would never diss Nexis.
Bob they mount as a network connection, not as a physcal drive.
That sounds right, what's the issue? If Media Composer doesn't see it as a volume it can write to; go to the Console and type alldrives. It is a feature that MC won't use a NAS as they are generally too slow for video. There's no way to know if this will work until you try it.
I've tried console and alldrives but it does not show up as either a physical or a network. IT is currently formating it as a physical drive for some reason. Do We need Mimiq to allow multiple users to access this raid?
Jeff
You need Mimiq for bin sharing.
I think you also need to enable 3rd party shared storage in the General Settings.
And again, would not have your IT give Bob a call?
Mimiq will enable Bin locking on non-Avid storage but will not enable Bin refresh. Media Composer will still need to see the storage at all for Mimiq to function.Just because MC will attempt to use the storage as NEXIS doesn't mean it will actually function.Reverse engineering bin locking is not supported or approved by Avid in anyway. The fact is Avid made a mistake of not encrypting this dialog when it was first designed and now can't be changed. You've come to the wrong place is you'd like help stealing from Avid.
Bob, I'm not sure why you think that but I'm not looking to steal anything, just want to get this raid working. my IT dept is having tyrouble and it is all beyond me.
Using Mimiq or any third party storage that spoofs NEXIS is stealing from Avid.
JeffPierce:MC does not recognise the nas
Just wondering: are these MC Ultimate licenses, MC Perpetual licenses, or MC Standard? The latter doesn't support shared storage...

That makes me curious. Is Facils with it's Terrablock stealing from Avid?
