I work on Windows 10.
I downloaded the newest version of Media composer(2021.3) a few days ago and today I wanted to launch it.
I would get the window that asks you to choose a way to verify the product so like always, I chose Avid Link (2021.2.1) in which I was signed in. The window would disappear only to reappear after a few seconds. In short, Media Composer wouldnt launch.
So I reinstalled Avid Link. Tried again. Nothing.
Thinking it might be because of the newest version, I uninstalled Media Composer completely and got an older Version from the Download Center (2020.12). After restarting the PC, it still doesn't work. When I click the icon, I swiftly see the icon pop up and disappear in the task bar, then nothing happens for a looong time before i get the message that I don't have the entitlement for MC First. Which yeah, I dont, I only have the student version of Media Composer and my subscribtion is still valid until October. So I don't know why and how I can tell Avid to not try and launch MC First?

Search for the Avid Link app and launch it. After that click the Products tab>License, check that your MC Edu license is activated. Report back.

I manually deactivated the MC license on the server. Please log out/in Avid Link and reactivate MC.
I relaunched Avid Link but even tho I wasn't logged in yet, I could check the Media Composer License and it was still active.
I tried to deactivate it myself now but it gave me an error reading "No connection to license server" which makes sense when you say you deactivated it there already. So in my Avid Link it still shows activated, even tho I'm not logged in.
So that is it then?
No solution? I'm just gonna keep paying for a software I can't use? Even tho I'm supposed to have
access to ExpertPlus support, I'm not getting any support at all?
Excuse me, but I'm really fed up with the lack of support of this company.
I tried filling out one of these forms but they make absolutly no sense to me. I'm trying to get help with Avid Link
and/or Media Composer Ulitmate but there's no option for it on the forms?!
Then I tried calling the help line but it says the number is not connected (german help line).
The forum is and was really my last resort.
I really wonder how this company is still considered industry standard with a support like that.

Why is it that i pay for 8 licenses and I can't use any of them?
Hello Ralph - I am having a similar problem. The difference is mine is the MC Ultimate full year license, and it hangs on the "initializing plugin: AvidTitlerPlus.avx" screen. Any solutions? Thanks.
