New Computer - replacement for Squeeze?

I am building a new computer and might need a replacement for Squeeze - Been using it for so long that I am out of the loop on what elese might be better aside from adobe because I have an older version.  I do have the original install file of squeeze but not sure if it will work

Any suggestions on what other program works well?

    thank you

    LDV20,

You can also download the latest version of Sorenson Squeeze, that is version 11.1 Pro, and use your old serial to activate it without any problems.

Thank you all - might try shutter encoder on the old edit machine now - see how it works - when I begin to putprograms back on new computer I prefer to only  install definate programs - want it keep lean.

Was also looking at TMpg something like that of Fm something as a repalcement - Squeeze while still good perhaps the newer ones might be faster and produce better looking compressed files -

Re: New Computer - replacement for Squeeze?

I love Squeeze and continue to use it with the 11.1 release. I like the UI very much as its grown. Wasn't it an off-shoot of Cleaner*? I've had to set-up some machines latety and it works fine. Still unsure on the implications of the loss of QT Ref files (or did I read wrong) Also I've read fly by threads about quicktime dying (W10/64) somewhere. I'll miss it.

Re: New Computer - replacement for Squeeze?

Squeeze is a dead horse, sorry to say, but it's much slower than modern software. My vote goes to Shutter Encoder, it's a front end for ffmpeg, which was used by Squeeze as well, if that makes You feel more comfortable.

Shutter Encoder is an awesome example of what free* software can accomplish. Amazing, even with hardware acceleration (worked in the previous version for me, not the current)

Re: New Computer - replacement for Squeeze?

Just gave Shutter 14.1 a try - looks very promising (probably one of the best encoders I've ever used in terms of capabilities and organization). Thanks for posting this suggestion.

Shutter 14.1 looks great - seems it is sharper than squeeze - maybe my imagination - it is faster and quicker to use  -than you all for recomendation
