Re: the red and yellow dotted lines appear on the timeline

MC is struggling with real time playback - yellow means its tryng real hard / red means its not happening.

Best to either render what you're playing, or change the Video Quality menu at the bottom of the timeline to draft. If youre working with AMA footage, you can try to transcode. Could also be a slower drive that your media is living on

Yellow Bars - Indicate the area is stressing the CPU during playback but not to the point of dropping frames.

Blue Bars - Indicate the area is stressing the drives but not to the point of dropping frames.

Red Bars - Indicates the area has taxed the system to the point of dropping frames.

    Steps to resolve the issue:

    •  Check the system specs, make sure your system is supported for the version of software you are running.
    •  Make sure you are using drives supported by Avid.
    •  Make sure your drives are not to full.
    •  If your timeline has many effects you may need to render or perform a video mixdown.
    •  Playing back in draft or best performance mode as opposed to full quality can improve performance.
    •  Increase the buffer load time by entering a value for Pre-filled frames in your video display settings. (Doing this will cause a delay upon playback)
