Re: Does Avid accept H265 yet?

Once you have your project setup, just drag the H265 DJI clips on to the Media page. They should be available. Now if you want to export Avid files you can do so from the deliver page.

1st make a timeline by selecting all your clips that you want to convert on the media page, right click and choose "Create New Timeline Using Selected Clips". Just OK through the next dialog. Once you have a timeline go to the Deliver page. Here you can set up your export settings and destination.

If you want DNxHR HXQ 12 bit, you can choose it here. I'll attach the settings I used, Main thing is you want to check "individual clips" is set in the render section so it will give you a file for each file you have rather than one massive file (unless you want that).

Once you've set up your export settings hit Add to Render Queue and then on the right side of the page just hit start and Resolve will start exporting to whereever you have told it to. You can do this directly in to an Avid MediaFiles>MXF>1 folder and then simply rebuild the database and drag the new database file in to a bin.

I was rendering at about 16 frames a second on my laptop.

I've never had to install extra codecs. Everything always works right out the box.

Re: Does Avid accept H265 yet?

    hi guys,

i'm not sure what is the bitrate of the dji drone footage u r getting, but it seems to me that converting to dnxhr hqx is maybe a bit overkill, for footage probably in the range of 100 to 200 mb/s...

    i'm in the same situation experimenting right now with footage from a  gh5, 6k 4x3  in h265 at 200mb/s, 420 10 bit.

the avid codec for 10bit is a little less than 1600mb/s, so i started to experiment with conversion to prores 422 (about 820mb/s)  versus 422hq at over 1700mb/s.

as far as i believe, those two codecs are 10 bit and the 422 would make managing transcoded file easier and half the size...

    what do you guys think?

by the way, the footage linked with drastic media reactor lite does not play very smoothy in avid and not so great in resolve either...

    edit #2:                                                                                                                                 and new transcode

i just tried to use the transcode inside avid 2020.4                                                                    with shutter encoder:

    original clip:h265   200mb/s       420_10           8 sec.        (184mb)

    prores 422 proxy    234mb/s      422_10                             (224mb)                                                   154mb/s

    prores 422 lite        616mb/s      422_10                             (589mb)                                                   433mb/s

    prores 422            1089mb/s      422_10                           (1020mb)                                                   725mb/s

    prores 422 hq       1481mb/s      422_10                            (1380mb)                                                 1507mb/s

my files would still technically be  420_10 but that's ok.

i think that prores lite should be a good choice.

by the way, i did try shutter encoder 13.7 a few days ago - it would transcode to prores 422hq, but wouldn't do dnxhr hqx...
