Audio from production seems to favor right speaker

The dialogue from production seems to ever so slightly favor the right speaker in my headphones.

The audio was recorded on a single shot gun mic to two tracks to a Sound Devices field recorder.

    Each track sounds the same.

My sequence in Avid is set to 5.1. My dialogue tracks are centered. If I bump the clips to say L2 it sounds more centered.

Is this sounding off simply because I'm on stereo headphones and they're not simulating the center channel correctly?

Headphones are BOSE if that matters.

If I listen to the clip in the clip monitor, it sounds the same.

    Thanks for any input!

What do the meters tell you?

it's not uncommon for recordists in the field to record one channel from the same microphone lower than the other to protect against transient peaks.  Typically, the difference is around 6db.  Maybe you are experiencing that.

In addition to both posts above. In System Preferences > Sound > Output tab, check the sound is centred, then make Avid MC active and see if it's still centred in the Output tab. Also check with any other earphones/ headphones you've got access to and see if the issue is the same.

    Great suggestions - Thank you!

System pref in OSX was centered, but yeah... didn't even think of that.

It's weird and very subtle. Audio meters not showing anything. I'll try with other headphones. That might be the issue.
