Linking to Audio Network WAV fails

I'm having an issue linking to wav files (specifically from Audio Network).  This happens with 90% of the music I try, but for this example I've kept it simple with 2 tracks.

When linking it shows the same timecode and duration, however, if I import them they show the correct timecode and duration (as they appear in Resolve/Premiere).

So my question is, am I missing a setting somewhere that can correct the way these files link?

    Thanks.

Just curious, why link rather than import? I understand the advantage in time and drive space when linking video footage, but for an audio file it seems like you wouldn't gain that much in ingest speed or save that much in hard drive space.

Purely preference and to avoid any double-up in space (having the original files and new mxf ones).  I also don't like seeing them renamed in the Avid MediaFiles folder!  It also stems from the more modern link to the file then transcode (rather than import), and this quirk bugs me :)

    I understand. :)

If you haven't already, I'd try changing the plugin to see if that makes a difference. Right-click in the source browser where it says 'WaveAiff Plug-In' and try a different choice.

Re: Linking to Audio Network WAV fails

    Good point.

I've tried with quicktime linking and that brings in all the files but sets every starting timecode to 00:00:00:00, which isn't too much of an issue, but with 2020.4 out and the new engine I'd like to uninstall quicktime 7, and keep the correct timecode.

Sorry, I couldn't duplicate this on 2020.4; .wav files link and import with the correct timecodes and durations. I don't have another system available to test with. Hopefully someone with 2019.12 will come along and give it a try.

Re: Linking to Audio Network WAV fails

Sorry, hadn't updated the specs to 2020.4, but done that now.

Thanks for testing.  Wavs from other sources always come in fine, it is purely the Audio Network tracks that have this issue, so bizarre!

Strangely, it was a couple of Audio Network tracks I tested it with.

Re: Linking to Audio Network WAV fails

    That's very interesting.

What sequence format/frame rate did you test in, and how did you tell avid to handle the timecode?

I tried in a 1080p/30 and in a 1080i/50. Both times I told the system it was a 25 fps file. I also switched to the other choices in the drop-down list, and the display updated as expected.

Re: Linking to Audio Network WAV fails

    Thanks for the info.

Hmm, I've tried that on 2 systems and it still won't read them properly.  There must be something I am missing or have  installed that is interferring with it :/

If you get a moment would you mind testing with these two tracks?

Just to make sure, what project settings are you using when you see the timecode issue?

I've tried 1080 25p, 30p, 50i, UHD 25 and they all produce the same result
