I suspect that this has been mentioned but (after a post in another forum) I find that when linking to known-good AVCHD files, audio is silent. An AC-3 licensing isse?

Hi Roger,
We have a bug logged for this issue MCCET-3434.
Thanks,
Hello, I had a similar issue, having NO audio with linked AVCHD files. Here was my problem.
I just recently updated to Windows 10 and have installed Avid Media Composer Ultimate 2019.12
I normally link MTS files via AVCHD MSP Plugin. The video links, but there is no audio.
I did not see a fix on the forum, so I contaced AVID customer care. This was their response/fix.
I did what they recommended below and it worked, so I wanted to post it here to possibly help others.

Thank you for contacting Avid Customer Care.
My name is Fernando and I am going to take care of your case.
As we discussed on the phone there is an open issue with the workflow you described.
The issue was logged as MCCET-3434 by the engineering team.
Unfortunately, the workflow at the moment is a downgrade to Media Composer 2019.11.
Firstly, you will need to uninstall Media Composer 2019.12. The process is described in this video:
https://www.freddylinks.com/survival-guide-%e2%80%92-media-composer-manual-uninstall-pc-%e2%80%92-avid/
Then, you need to download the previous version,
All the Media Composer versions are available in the Avid Download Center in your Avid Master Account.

You don´t need to deactivate the license.
I would like to add the issue is fixed in the next Media Composer release.
Kindly,
Fernando

IT works in the public Beta 2020.2.
Meanwhile, I have been transcoding them in Encoder to DNx and re-linking to those.

Thank you for this, Marcus! You saved me a lot of time today!

My earlier reply referenced the Mac release which, I believe has reinstated AC-3 audio.
This is fixed in 2020.4.
