    NVIDIA Quadro P4000 Driver

    Hi all,

I am doing a fresh install of Avid Media Composer | Ultimate 2019.12 on a HP Z840. This workstation has Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) Version 1909 OS Build 18363.535 installed.

The Avid Configuration Guidelines Rev E (May 4th - 2017) say that for Media Composer 8.6 and later NVIDIA driver 376.84 is required. In the Avid Knowledge Base I can only find version 353.82. Where can I download the correct version of the needed NVIDIA Quadro P4000 driver? I rather ask it here first than installing the wrong package.

Thank you very much for your help and precious time!

    Greetings,

    Ivan

    Re: NVIDIA Quadro P4000 Driver

You should probably be using the latest nVidia driver - actually the readme for 2019.12 suggests two different drivers (which is probably a mistake). Don't use 376.84 - that's far too old for the P4000 with Windows 10 (and btw - 1909 has not been validated by Avid yet but I have heard that folks find it works fine with 2019.12).

Add - I'm running with 441.66 but the readme suggested 441.28.

    Re: NVIDIA Quadro P4000 Driver

Ouch! Yes, I should have been reading the readme file first. But you know how that goes.

This refurbished system came with Windows 10 Pro version 1909 pre-installed. The NVIDIA driver installed on it is 436.30, that is not certified on the Z840.

I have downloaded the driver you suggested and installed it without any problems.

    Thanks again!

    Re: NVIDIA Quadro P4000 Driver

The AVID compatibility matrix is misleading with these 4000 cards and I've tried to get clarificaiton for about a year since getting a M4000. They list 353.82 for the 4000, P4000, and M4000. They also list 411.95 for the P4000 and M4000. I tend to think they have the "plain" 4000 confused with the P and M 4000. I dunno, but I've asked Ralph C. several times for clarification. I have 411.95 installed for my M4000 on a Z800/W7, MC 2018.10.

    Re: NVIDIA Quadro P4000 Driver

The only problem I have since the first launch of the system is that my two monitors are swapped. My left screen is recognized as monitor 2 and the right one as monitor 1. Even when the displayport cables are connected in the right way. I manged it to operate it in the correct way, but I still couldn't find out how to fix it like it should be. Do you also experiencing this?

    Fazz........

Not sure where the confusion lies.

The MC version matrix shows the supported NVIDIA and AMD drivers along with ***353.82.

The note at the bottom says this driver is for the "original Quadro 4000"  (not the K4000, M4000, or P4000 that shipped later).

Maybe there is another webpage that does not list this as clearly.   If so, ping me directly

    Re: NVIDIA Quadro P4000 Driver

Marianna - I don't see the dual drivers listed any longer. Many pages have been updated, so maybe that was changed/corrected. If I come across an incident I'll send it your way.

    Re: NVIDIA Quadro P4000 Driver

For 2019.12 version the Version Matrix says 431.02.

But in the ReadMe (PDF) it's 441.28 ("Avid supports NVIDIA driver v441.28").

The ReadMe was last updated on January 14, 2020

This way it not always seems to be very clear what is the correct version to use.

I have installed the 441.28 version.
