The last release of the year has now launched. Updates to Media Composer 2019.12 are available from Avid Link, MyAvid and the Avid Download Center (login and password required).
Status of Support Plan: The ability to launch this Media Composer 2019.12 software is dependent on the status of a customer’s Upgrade and Support Plan on the date this software version is released. Media Composer 2019.12 has been released today, December 23, 2019.
IMPORTANT: macOS Support: Media Composer v2019.12 does NOT currently support macOS v10.15 (Catalina) – we expect a Q1 release in 2020 to support Catalina.
*** (macOS) IMPORTANT: If you are installing the editing application and you have a previous version of the editor on your system, manually uninstall the editing application before you try and install v2019.12. If you do not manually uninstall, you might receive a “CATWrapperConfig.cpp” error message when opening your project. If you do experience this issue, you can manually remove the file here:

- Bug Number: MCDEV-12099. Thumbnails for subclips were recaching every time you opened a bin in Frame View, slowing performance.

- Bug Number: MCCET-3355. Imported tga files were only one frame in duration.
- Bug Number: MCCET-3304. Newly created bins that were empty did not save size nor position when working with shared storage.

- Bug Number: MCCET-3388. You could not resize an effect +/- 10 steps using the keyboard shortcuts.

- Bug Number: MCCET-3404. (NRCS Tool) When browsing iNews database, the cursor continued showing a spinning wheel even after the result had been returned.
- Bug Number: MCCET-3292. A Transition did not play correctly in full quality if the first clip was an imported still image with XDCAM HD or AVC Long GOP.
- Bug Number: MCCET-3399. The position info did not display even if you selected Settings > Grid > Display > Show Position Info.
- Bug Number: MCCET-3372. Media Composer became unresponsive when you tried to perform a transfer to a Transfer service that was not available.
- Bug Number: MCCET-3342. If Waveforms were enabled, the Timeline responsiveness lagged when dragging or trimming.

- Bug Number: MCCET-3250. (macOS) In some instances, when editing keyframes and then entering Trim mode, the Source Record monitor would appear black.
- Bug Number: MCCET-3230. Timecode Burn-in added pulldown frame info when added to V5 or V6 track.
- Bug Number: MCCET-3306. In some instances, if the Effects Editor was open, Color Correction was not always added correctly, and the wrong clip was modified.

Hello Marianna,
I downloaded and installed the new update for Media Composer 2019.12 on two computers in the office and there is a bug in it as it kept giving me error messages when I launched the app relating no build in the application and a fatal error message. I clicked ok and then it would not open any bins when I opened a project.
I immediately uninstalled Media Composer 2019.12 and reinstalled 2019.11. Once I reinstalled 2019.11, everything was fine.
I should've took a screenshot of the error messages but I was in a rush to get everything back working in the office.
Just for background, we are working on MacOs High Sierra with Avid ISIS storage system.
Is this what you were experiencing......

Manually installed (downloaded and ran uninstaller, then installer after restart) and I get an error message upon launch. It gives me the debugger option, or Continue. If I press Continue multiple times (error keeps coming back) bits and pieces of the app load, but once the error message finally stops, the project is not fully loaded and nothing works. Uninstalled and reinstalled again, but same thing. Sorry I didn't get a screenshot of the actual error message. Rolled back to previous version and all is good.

This is not information you bury in a forum. Why doesn't the installer do it's job and delete the files itself?? Or at the very least, notify the user inside the setup wizard?
Seriously Avid, get your $hit together.
In my case 2019.12 is running nicely, after removing 2019.11 first.

Back at you - happy holidays and ho ho ho
its been like this forever. not sure why you would expect it to be different all of the sudden?
Finally decided to jump in to 2019 and so I uninstalled 2018, installed 2019 and the first thing i encountered was the error Marianne is referring to. Uninstalled again, reinstalled and now I can't get Media Composer to launch at all. Hoping that there's just a weird glicth here, but this first impression is not good. Taking deep breaths and hopefully this will get sorted. Any thoughts? I have now tried installing from dmg downloaded from website and from Avid Link.

After a long boot sequence, MC 2019 finally launched and has launched normally on subsequent tries. That first launch was very abnormal, even for a new install, so not sure what was going on there. And I seem to be past the Assertion failure.
Now my last piece of business before diving into redoing all my settings is to hope and pray my reseller finally sends me my support plan renewal code before my support is up in two days.
See, deep breaths are valuable.
Sorry Marianna for not getting back as I was out of the office for most of last week.
Yes, this is the exact message I got when I installed v2019.12. I actually tried manually uninstalling Media Composer that last time and still got the same message. I will try removing the file on one of the machines in the office as a test.

Just updated 30 MC 2018.12.6 systems to 2018.12.9 and I saw the same on all systems. First startup takes 30 seconds or so to produce the splash screen. From there on all further startups were normal. Something activation related I guess.

after uninstalling MC from my Macbook pro, i downloaded 2019.12,
Avid link had it licenced, but on running I got the dreadid," software was released after licence"
I have recently renewed my avid licence on 8.12.19 for another year ( confirmed by myAVID account)
(I tried syncing my account , but avid link is still showing as "licence unavailable")
Do I have the correct contact to run 2019.xx to become 2029.xx , as well as get updates to my older non 64 bit version?
Steve
I found the 2019.12 activation code from myAVID and using my system ID I manually entered the licence in to AVID Link
I got the assertion failed erroe and have to manually emove the offending file.
AvidLink Products now shows "activated" instlled 2019.12
If I open the licence from the drop down, there are two mediacomposers lsted in the products for the same system ID, one "activated" type "annual"
The other "unavailable" type "Perpetual". I assume the older 2018 version which I do ot have on this MAC
I just downloaded 2019.12 and got this error during Dongle Updater:
Activation ID could not be retired. Please contact system administrator.
Running on OS Mojave.
