Audio driver corruption upon closing Avid?

Lately I've run into some problems with Sonicfire Pro crashing that lead me to suspect an issue with Avid's audio driver.  Whenever I preview an audio track from the SmartSound store, Sonicfire Pro crashes.  This does not happen when both programs are running, but only after closing Avid.

My guess is that the crashing results from some memory corruption when Avid’s audio driver hands off control to Apple's native audio driver.  To test this, I ran the “Free Memory” application in Parallels Toolbox after closing Avid.  I then launched Sonicfire Pro.  No crashes.  Can anyone confirm this is an issue on their system, as well?
