I've experienced nothing but frustration trying to learn and use Titler+. I've shared my frustration about the lack of Titler+ documentation in another post:
http://community.avid.com/forums/p/197433/887822.aspx#887822
Last week, I learned how to use BCC's Primatte studio in a few hours. I figured if I can learn to use a tool as sophisticated as Primatte studio then I'm not a total idiot and I should be able to make a basic title in Titler+. After all, I've been using the old Title Tool and Marquee for years. So this weekend, I decided to give Titler+ one more try...without the benefit of any documentation. After many frustratiing hours, I have come to the conclusion that Titler+ is essentially unusable. If it does indeed work--which I am seriously beginning to doubt--it certainly cannot be made to work without any documentation.
I'm curious if anyone on these forums is using Titler+ successfully on a regular basis or if I'm lacking some basic function in my brain that just doesn't get it where Titler+ is concerned?
I have a fantastic editing assistant. He stays by my side when I edit...doesn't talk too much...and thinks I'm a genius! Check him out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQVkYaaPO6g
Terry,
you are not alone. I have judged this software as unusable. Some very basich functions are missing, e.g., if you write a rolling title (or crawling title) you can enter the text line by line until you reach the lowest line on the screen. From here you may enter more text, however, you cannot see it while typing. When you have a typo in this part, you cannot correct it, as you only see the first few lines.
This software is unusable.

+1 -- It's terrible. I upgraded to 2019.9 recently (its' working well for me) and just today thought "why dont' I try Titler+ again?" Nope. Its an epic fail. Made a super in the old Title Tool much faster, despite how ancient and limited it is. If I want something fancy, I can do that in AE. If I want something fast, simple and classy, I should be able to do that in MC lickity-split.
I guess we can add that to the feature list alongside the "we need a better color corrector/why can't we easily grade beneath a LUT" complaint!

It seems like this titler is not worth the trouble and Avid may or may not address it. Probably should look at a 3rd party app unfortunately.
+1 for given up on it. Can't even do plain white text without it putting a non-removalable thin grey outline around the text.
I dive straight into photoshop now, or after effects if I need it animating.

Same here. I've gotten quite fast at creating simple titles in Photoshop and importing them into my 4K Avid projects. BUT (and it's a huge BUT) it's still nowhere near as fast as having a down-and-dirty built-in title tool inside MC. You've got to round trip back to Photoshop to make any tweaks and changes. In my opinion, this is a major step backwards for Avid, which prides itself on offering fast and reliable workflows.
And why hasn't anyone from Avid responded to this for ages now?

indeed! the silence is a major lack of respect! booooo
the time you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted time...

and so are you, not any smarter by the way...
nahw,
just can't form a coherent sentence without paradoxes.
is quite a serious condition actually. sadly.
only titler+ is in worse shape i recon.
glad
for you
I gave up on it a long time ago, thankfully RED 5.6 is still working without issues on my system.

I tried it as well. Completely unusable. I was getting a green screen every time I tried to render a title in 2019.6. Now in 2019.9 it's somewhat working, but the design is very poor. I'm trying to figure out if they're purposely making it bad to push an upgraded product they own or if the just didn't have any money to spend on development so they outsourced it to a country where the team doesn't understand what is intuitive for video professionals.

I like that Avid is still developing new tools, and it would be great to have a live action titler. However Titler+ appears half finished. It's as though the developers gave up half way through the alpha/beta stage and it got released to the public.
@jaketheeditor
I like the concept a lot, but so far I haven't been able to use it at all.
One wrong push of a button and suddenly the font size changes - or the letters double in height. It feels like I'm testing an early alpha version :-/
