    Can't edit title

I am revisiting a project and I want to edit some titles on one of my sequences. I tried the method I have always used - click on the title and go into Effect Mode and then click on 'Edit Title'. But then I get "Please use Avid Titler+ from the effects palette for this project size". I am currently working at 4K but the title was from an HD timeline. How can I use Titler+ to edit my title or do I have to now start from scratch?

    Thank you Smile

    Re: Can't edit title

You can switch your project to 1080 under setttings which will allow you to modify your existing titles in the old title tool.  But to take advantage of the 4K resolution you will have to start from scratch.  The underlying code is very different.

    Thank you

I just tried switching the project to 1080 but I got a "PMM INSUFFICIENT MEDIA" error message. Any thoughts?

While your settings are at 1080 -- does "Re-create Title Media" get you back?   (Test it on a COPY of your timeline.)

Mark in and out around the old title, then Clip/Re-create Title Media.

    Re: Can't edit title

It wouldn't let me switch - I got the error message and it blocked the change. I then created a new 1080 project to change the title.

    Thanks

    Re: Can't edit title

    Hello again

Further to my earlier post, I am working within a 4K project that has HD and 4K sequences. Each sequence has the same end title which was created in a previous HD project within Media Composer. After finding that I couldn't edit this title in my current 4K project I made the changes I needed by opening it in another HD project and then using Title Tool. I am now happy with how it looks.

The question I have now is do I need to re-create this title from scratch for my 4K sequences in this new project or will it run in 4K when rendered within this project? I started to try and recreate the title within Titler+ but struggled to even find the same font that I had used previously - Lato Light - it had existed within Title Tool but only Lato regular exists in Titler+ and it is a fuller font that doesn't work for me.

If my title will run in 4K in this 4K project then all is well. If it will only run in HD, since it was originally created in an HD project, then I may need to address this issue. I can't see any way to promote titles in this project so I am hoping it might happen automatically.

    Thank you, Phil

    Re: Can't edit title

You can drag the title into a bin by opening it in the effect editor and dragging the icon over.  That will allow you to place it anywhere you wish in as many timelines as you like.  But be aware it will always be an upscaled HD title in a 4K project, and never have the crispness of a true 4K title.

    Re: Can't edit title

Thank you - that's good to know. I would like 4K crispness. I would like to replicate this title in 4K but can't see how to get access to the same font - Lato Light - that is what I used in my HD project.

    Re: Can't edit title

The font should be in the upper right of the effects editor when you right click on Titler+.

The font itself should live in your system font folder.  If it's not there, it appears to be available for free download online.

    Re: Can't edit title

Thanks - the strange thing is that I have access to different font options in the Title Tool and Titler+. The former gives many options for the Lato font but Titler+ only has one - grabs attached. Any ideas why these two titling tools access fonts on my Mac differently? I obvioulsy have all these fonts on my system but Titler+ just seems to block access to some of them.

What type of font file is it? The two programs may rely on different versions.

    Thanks Kevin

According to what I find when I search on my Mac the Lato fonts are all TrueType. Any thoughts?
