NewBlueFX Titler Pro 7 available - Not recommended

At least not at this time.

    1. NewBlueFX does not list Resolve as a supported host which rather surprised me but may not matter to Avid users

    2. There are serious bugs in TP7 (not related to the host a far as I can tell) - feels like beta software

I’m reporting this here as a ‘service’ to this community and will report to NewBlueFX to hopefully get the issues with TP7 resolved.

Will report back with an update when available.

Trying to close the loop on this (but finding it difficult, lol).

It seems that NewBlueFX has changed the paradigm for Titler Pro in terms of the way it saves its projects. Now each project must be saved to its own file (and this means each time you place a TP7 effect on a clip on the Media Composer timeline from what I can tell).

I reached out to NewBlueFX to explain that this workflow change is quite a departure from the way we are used to working with plugins in Media Composer. They claim this is an intensional change to improve performance and suggested that I treat each TP7 instance as an asset to the project (the same way you would if the title were created in Photoshop (my words, not theirs)).

Hopefully someone else (here) will have a go at this and figure out the best workflow.

Wow, and that’s why we don’t use Photoshop as a titler...too slow. Previously in TP5 you could save a group of titles as a project or individually and had the choice to link to “master” layouts, or not. If I understand you correctly each title must be saved. Being forced to save each title is somewhat of a deal killer. With the semi-resurrection of Boris Red I would stay away from TP7.

I guess they don’t have a manual describing this workflow.

You can find the 'manual' online in their knowledge base.

I can't speak for the entire workflow. My use of TP6 was very simple and I did not often take advantage of the shared template feature. I would defer to someone else who has more experience with TP to determine whether each variation requires its own file (it seems to from my preliminary tests but I'm not an expert in this aspect of TP).

I just downloaded the trial and hope to figure out the saving choices by tomorrow. What have you decided?
