2019 interface - always fills the screen??

I'm liking the new interface. Mostly.

Just wish it would remember the sizes I selected including the base window which seems to insist it obliterate the desktop. Reslove does this too. I hate Resolve for this reason (and more).

    Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, when you say Base  Panel are you referring to the Timeline in Edit Workspace? Or something else. Are you Floating the Bin Container and the Composer ? Is that when the “desktop obliteration happens?”

most important: are you using Save Current before changing to a different Workspace?

and finally:  do you have a 2-Monitor system?

Yup, I am using save current.

If I shrink the area where the bins and other pannels "reside" to expose the desktop, no amount of "saving current' stops it from resetting and filling the entire screen again. The new MC interface is deterimine dto cover alll the real estate of the monitors. Just like Resolve.

I can only make suggestions as I’m on PC. 1 monitor.

I think I see what you mean, on my system,

But: In the default Edit workspace, are you employing  “Float this Panel” on from Windows menu > Float All Pabels before yourvresizing and Save Current?

if not, you may have identified a limitation regarding resizing of (default) “panelled” Boxes, regarding shrinking to reveal desktop

Never have I. I just tried to save Current on an All Floating iteration of the default Edit workspace... but it would return to a full, no desktop visible state, after switching to another workspace and back. I guess it’s a limitation. If I were you, I’d post a screen shot of what you want to “Save Current” and keep as your Workspace... perhaps someone else can help.

I arrange my windows the way I want, I say "Save current" I change workspaces and return...it does not remember. I tried this with floating and non-floating windows.

Hi Fish, I am on Windows MC v2019.6. I don't think that is supported, however if I resize the bottom of my 1-monitor system to reveal windows desktop at bottom, I can toggle between that exposed view and a full MC workspace view by clicking on the Green (middle) windows icon on the upper right. Perhaps there is a keyboard shortcut to toggle that windows button? Good luck, hope that helps.

+1 I agree Fish - this is a real pain. Ditto with Resolve. Why does Avid now have to run on a tray? I have set up 4 workplaces and everytime I switch between them, the grey under-tray obliterates the desktop and all your drive icons and folders which makes dragging in and exporting files to desktop so much more difficult. Please Avid make it possible to remember where you set the background to so that the desktop is still accessible without having to hide the application.

Re: 2019 interface - always fills the screen??

I, of course , agree with Danny. The Mac desktop and its OS are integral to my workflow. Covering them up only serves to slow me down. All I ask is that saving the workspace remembers the dimensions of the "the tray".
