Since I installed 2019.6 I have been having issues getting the workspaces to function. I deleted my previous settings. The side bar never functioned properly. Previously when I clicked on the audio tool nothing happened and could not access it. At some point I was able to get that up - However the workspace bar does not function.
Now on the window drop down menu workspaces - the audio tool has a check mark and and I cannot move the check mark to access another mode like edit. I unistalled 2019.6 and re installed and I am getting the same issues. I am ready just to go back to 2018 latest version. Called support and they are supposed to get back to me -one email says in 5 days. sorry I renewed till 2020 becasue this is not a very good start with avid support
Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to correct
Thank you
I'm having a lot of similar issues too when trying 2019. With 2018 the latest version is essentially rock solid on my system.
1. I completely wiped Avid and all related software including link when upgrading to 2019.
2. I rebooted and did a completely clean install, installed plugins, driver, etc..
3. I created a whole new profile figuring the old one wasn't going to work.
Here are some of the issues I'm getting:
1. After using the software for a few minutes my monitors will have black video and working audio, unless they're de-focused. Once de-focused video works normally. As soon as that panel is focused it goes black again. Makes editing impossible.
2. After using the software for a few minutes the main menu items (i.e. Clip, Timeline, etc... at the top) are no longer clickable. It seems like they're going somewhere into the background behind the actual panel. If i focus and de-focus the panel by clicking around or a bunch of alt-tabs it will usually briefly work. This again makes it very hard to edit.
3. If I keep using the software it will eventually crash out.
I've only used 2018 thus far, as I'm a fairly new convert to MC from Premiere. But all of 2018 versions were way more stable than premiere, but 2019 so far is essentially unusable, which really sucks because the new interface seems very appealing. I think I can have so much more flexibility with my multi-monitors.
Hi, Did you consider trying to run MC in a 1-monitor system, to learn if all those issues go away? Sounds like you can.
So much of the new UI is about dedicated Workspaces and “shrinking” bins into organized Tabs to save screen “real estate”.

Thanks for the reply. I thought maybe multi-monitor was the issue in an effort to at least pin down the source of the bug. I tried unplugging the other monitors and giving it a reboot. Same behavior. At the moment I'm back to latest 2018 as 2019 just isn't usable for me at all :(. Still open to trying to make it work, because I do like the new UI.
This actually brings me to another issue. In multi-monitor mode I have three physical monitors. 2018 defaulted to the correct pair of monitors, but 2019 does not, it throws the timeline screen on the 50" that I use for full screen viewing. This means I have to disable the big 50" monitor in MC's menu (in the few minutes it's working and clickable, haha) and enable the right smaller monitor. Then I move all the UI objects and save it as the preset. Great problem solved, right? Well the problem is if I reset to default I'm doing that dance all over again. There should be a way to make the monitor selection sticky in the user preferences. Davinci for example has this feature. I really can't imagine that most editors aren't using multiple screens. Monitors are so cheap these days, even good ones. Ultimately despite the advantages of the new UI I do need it to work well in multi-monitor mode for 2019 to feel as good as 2018.
I finally got it all working. Called Tech support and they went into the computer deleted some files - did some tweaking with the two monitors to make one the primary. It all works now as should. Avid support did a great job
Actaully the work spaces are pretty nice - the idea of floating bins and locked bins also a plus. So far so good. In the process of edting now so this would be the real test.
Dimitry you should try and call avid for support - once you have this up and running you will like it

Let me get a case going and have support reach out. I BET it is a user setting issue of some kind.... plus the monitors need to be set a certain way.....
Stand by ok.....

I’m working with one monitor and I have the same issues. It basically happens every time I make a cut and then go back to the source monitor. The only work around is to restore current workspace as default but I have to do that about every 2 - 5 minutes
