Hi,
what are my options to upgrade to the new media composer 2019, when I have a perpetual license of MC2018 with no active support plan?
Do I need to buy a new perp. license or can I buy a an update somehow? Subscription service only is not an option for me. I want a perp. license.
Thanks.
Andre.
Honestly I hate editing.

Short answer for anybody interrested:
option 1: You can purchase a crossgrade to get the latest version of Media Composer Ultimate. However, buying a crossgrade will convert your license into a subscription-based, or a rental version.
option 2: Buy a new perpetual license of Media Composer.
Both bad options i think. I´ll stick with what I have for now and see how far it goes.
Thanks anyway. Andre.
I actually think the crossgrade offer is very interesting. Also gives you the Symphony, NewsCutter, PhraseFind and ScriptSync options in that offer.

Yea but then you dont own it and are forced to pay to access your own intellectual property if you let the sub cease.
I have a subscription for MC Ultimate. I'd like to install v2019, but it's so drastically different, that I also want to keep v2018. Can I have both versions installed at the same time and choose which one to launch? Or once I update to v2019, there's no going back without a full uninstall and reinstall to a previous version?
Sam,
No you cant install both on the same machine. You shoudl finish your project then go to 2019.6. UNless you have another boot drive and can install it on that and when you launch the Mac - boot from that drive and use the new software. if you need to go back... reboot to the internal boot drive.

You can't have both installed on the same system.

You could have both on a dual boot system.
