Its like that the bin you see, is not there, so when you try to move it nothing happens.
On one client this was resolved by upgrading to 2018.11, but now I have 2 clients that had that version, and I upgraded to 2018.12.1, but the problem is still there...
anyonye who have had this problem?
HW: z240, 4.2 ghz, 32 gb RAM Intel HD graphics
NO ONE else have this problem?
maybe poor description
but just a minute ago one user opened a bin and couldnt mark a clip or close it. The only way to close the bin is to right click on it in "Bins"-window..
And it does not happen to all bins, its random
You are not alone with that problem. We have the same bug with bin. We tested trial versions of new Avid MC to future upgrade from v.8.5 and had the same problem on 3 PCs. Problem bins were first created by new project. In some of cases solution is double clicking on upper edge of that bin window. Double click resizes bin to one row dimension and returns ability to normal work with it.
+1
MC 2018.12
it seems like 2018.12.3 solved this problem!
I can confirm that this problem still exists in 2018.12.6. It's proven to be present across multiple HP Z4 computers in our facility. In this case it was a locked bin that was in use by another machine. You can't move the bin, click to close or double click on clips to load into source monitor. Nothing can be selected. If a bin is sitting behind the problem bin, the click actions are registered there instead (in my case clip text was selected in the bin behind).
Double clicking the bar at the top will automatically resize the bin to make it larger and the problem goes away, but then it returns not long after. It only seems to affect specific bins. Copying all the clips into a new bin solves the problem until it comes back with a different bin further down the line as the project is worked on and grows larger.
Anyone been able to get to the source of the problem (specific setting etc..)?
It seems to be an issue with the bin being corrupt somehow and so far the only work around is to resize the bin or make a new one.
Yes. Have this problem as well. Even posted a video of it. We're running 2018.11 with Windows 10 1803, We're starting to roll out Windows 10 1809 to see if that brings any improvement. My personal theory is it's a problem with Media Composer's interpretation of the windowing metrics used in Windows 10. Probably related to how Avid coded the support for display scaling.

We also have this "bug". Not every user has this problem. Same machine, smae project, different user, for user A everthing is ok, user B has this bug and the other day vice versa. Trashed all settings again, created new ones and even then, it is totally random when it appears.
If you have the bug, close the BIN via project window (rklick close) and then open it again. You will see the BIN in the upper left corner. But it is very small. It seems that it happens not on all newly created BINs. I can not track it down, cause of it's randomness.
so long & thx

I, too, have this issue. I'm on a Z440 and running Windows 7 and MC 2018.12.3.
solved with 2018.12.7 (with hp z2)
Thanks for confirming. I will speak with our post team about having us all upgrade.
Is this "solved" per Avid or you just haven't seen the problem repeat after installing 2019.7? With our 2018.11 we don't see the problem every single day. It can be days or even weeks before the problem re-appears. And, if it is fixed per Avid in 2019.7 when will it be fixed in the 2018.12.x branch?
I can't answer your first question, but according to mkj's post it WAS solved in the 2018 branch: 2018.12.7.
This version duplicity looniness is going to get us all one day.
Read through the 2018.12.7 read me and don't see any mention of a bug that describes this problem. Would be good to hear from Avid on it. Fixed "true" or fixed "anecdotally."
Thanks
