Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone is familiar with this situation. Running an edit in work, working off Mac and Avid MC 8. Everything has been going fine until last week when we were no longer able to save the project - this message or a similar message pops up
"Exception: Invalid Argument filename binname .wrt"
The only option now is to close Avid and loose any unsaved work - it appears Avid is effecting the permissions on the harddrive itself also, as at this time it won't even let me eject the drive or create a new folder even though there's 2TB++ of storage.
Once I deleted Avid's Databases and rebuilt them it worked again, but I had already lost the unsaved work. This has happened a few times now - any ideas?
Would really appreciate help as it's starting to slow down the edit now.
I have photos of the errors I've been if that's of help...
Thanks in advance,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Email me with your Avid master account and Systems ID, I will start a support case.
Thanks,

Try repairing disk and drive permissions and see if that works.... Use the disk utility for the Mac OS

Hi Marianna,
I did that when it happened last week but the problem came back since, I've switched to a new drive now and the same thing happened again. I then deleted the Avid database files and rebuilt them and that fixed the proble, again upto this point. But I'm still losing work and can't figure out what's causing this
Thanks
I will assist you on creating a case, can you pm your Avid master account, the one you used to register MC?
Thanks, RalphC
Have you tried doing tests in a new project and with a new user setting?
I know nothing about Avid errro messages, but that seems to be saying something about the name of a bin. Is it possible you have used odd characters in a bin's name?
You could even look inside the Avid project to see if there are any bins with odd names. But my first question may provide the most info for people.
Good luck,
Jef

Can yo do a save bin as to save a copy of the bin elsewhere? That would be a short term fix.
Media databases aren'ty going to be the issue here. It where ever MC is storing your Project files.
If the project is located on external drive try moving the project to your documents folder and try from there.
And as mentioned I'd try a fresh new project and (copy bins in) and a fresh new users.
You don;t have backupo or imaging software running or AV do you? That can lock access.
