Will having a live backup drive mess up Avid?

I have been going back and forth on how I want to rebuild my raids after a failure over the summer. My first through was to build 2 Raid0 raids and then Raid them together Raid1. This worked but I was shocked at the loss of through put.

My next though is to still have 2 Raid0 but have the second one be a backup of the first using Carbon Copy or a program like that.

My question is since I would have 2 identical raidsa doing it this way would avid get confused dur the duplication of all the files or is it possible to have Avid ignore that drive and only focus on the original Raid 0?

    Cheers,

    John

It would confuse it a little, especially if the backup is happening as you run MC. But an easy workaround would be to backup the drive to a folder on the second drive, not just make a mirror copy. That way, the Avid Mediafiles/OMFIMediafiles won't be at the root of the backup drive, and MC just won't see them.

Thanks for the response. That was the exact path I went with so I'm glad it makes sense in someone elses head. I'm also only backing up in the evening so I am ejecting the drive during the day.
