hello
I have a 2tb glyph hardrive that has only ever been used on a Mac and contains several avid media projects.
I am looking at purchasing a pc and I am wondering if I will be able to use my hardrive and continue working on avid media projects (that I began on Mac)
Thanks for the help.
You can use MacDrive to allow read/write access to HFS+ drives. The media and bins are cross platform anyway.
edit - one caveat to this is if you're jumping from a very old version of Avid to the latest there are some steps that don't work ie from v4 to v8, and you have to open the bins in an intermediate version to update them before jumping up again. The specific versions that have this issue I'm not 100% on though sorry. I think the stepping stone versions are V5 and v6.5 but like I say I'm not 100%.
It works pretty well as siencs said, project age is what matters most.
Also, I found that problems can be avoided by creating a new project with the same name/specs on the PC and then just copy the bins from the Mac drive to the PC project folder.
