I've found that sometimes background transcoding works and sometimes it just sits there idling. Like for instance now... the little green circle is turning, there a 8 jobs running (set to High priority) but I see zero drive activity. Am I just doing this wrong?
My steps:
1) link all the AVCHD I want to import through the Source Browser.
2) End up with eight separate bins with my clips neatly organised. Selects all linked clips, then Transcode, select Transcode only linked media, Run in background
3) See .new clips added to bins. Check that green timeline circle is spinning.
4) Quit MC. Leave background transcode to happen.
5) Come back hours later. Discover nothing happened...
Where am I going wrong? I had this working perfectly on random occasions.
Using MC 8.6.1 Win 7 pro
If it is the laptop in specs maybe energy saving is on
Tomas
It is indeed the laptop, but nope no power saving
Is there a limit to the amount of media I should try transcoding at a time? Perhaps one bin at a time? This would defeat the purpose wouldn't it...?
My media is coming in from a drive connected via USB 3.0 Could this be it?
There are more settings if you click on " change " both regarding internal drive shutdowns and usb connections
Thanks for that! I've now set USB selective suspend and Turn off Hard Disk to disbaled and off respectively. Will reboot and check if there's any signs of life...
And we have lift off!!! Finally...
I don't know if the settings I changed did the trick, or the reboot/restart, but we are now transcoding like crazy.
Thanks mjolnarn
