    Alternative for Addenda Rosetta Stone RS232-to-RS422 converter

    Hello,

    In the Avid Config guides there is still mentionned the 'Addenda Rosetta Stone model RS–2/8 RS232-to-RS422 converter (AVID P/N 7070-00507-01)', followed by a dead link. I assume the Addenda company doesn't exist anymore.

    Is there an approved alternative for that part? (preferrably available in Europe).

    Thank you

    Johny

    Try Ebay. There's often a few available second-hand.

    Re: Alternative for Addenda Rosetta Stone RS232-to-RS422 converter

    years ago i made a cable myself, i think these were the instructions i had then:

    RS232-422 "" cable
    9-female   9-male   Signal Name
    1       n/c   DCD
    2   <-   2   Receive
    3   ->   8   Transmit
    4       n/c   DTR
    5   <=>   1, 3, 4, 6, 9, s    Ground
    6       n/c   DSR
    7       n/c   RTS
    8       n/c   CTS
    9       n/c   RI

    Notes:
    On the 9-male connector, Ground pins 3 and 4 are most important.
    The others (1, 6, 9, shield) are a good idea but not mandatory.
    Some software may require that pins 1, 4, 6, and 8 be tied together on the RS232, 9-pin female connector.
