    Persistent P2 import problems

    I'm having a strange problem with P2-import that started with MC 8.5.2.

    When using legacy import, you'll get the previous P2-cards clips into your bin with the new import.

    Just to clarify:

    Stick a P2-card (A) into the slot 1

    import clips to bin

    take the card (A) out and put a new one in (B), slot 1

    import into a new bin

    now you have clips from cards A and B in your bin.

    We have four HP Z820 workstations with avid specifications that's doing this.

    Upgraded from 8.4.2 to MC 8.5.2 when the problems started.

    Two of those P2-card readers are behind USB extenders and two are plugged directly into the computers but all have the same problems.

    Card reader model: AJ-PCD35, P2 driver 2.27 and AMA plugin 4.5.

    No help from panasonic since they have not encountered similar problems (to their knowledge)

    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated,

    somekind of cache residue?

    AMA plugin problem?

    tried all kinds of re-install methods without any success.

    Re: Persistent P2 import problems

    Hey Ralph and thx for the reply,

    the answer is yes. The same thing happens with all profiles.

    I'm yet to verify if the same problem exists in standalone since all of those workstations are in interplay.

    We had a strange thing few days ago.

    Workstation number 4:

    Import P2 card (A). Get clips into bin plus the clips from workstation number 2 that earlier imported a card (B).

    Yesterday, while importing, the process did not bring the previous card's clips into bin but the clips from a card before that...

    This is what I'm starting to hear in my head: "Welcome to the twilight zone"

    "Welcome to the twilight zone"
    If on a current support contract MC 8.6 released today has this in the What's New

    "Support for Panasonic AVC-LongG Format:
    This release of the Avid editing application supports the Panasonic AVC-LongG format.

    You must have the latest Panasonic Plugin installed to Link to AVC-LongG. see"

    Maybe it will help you on the other side.

    Re: Persistent P2 import problems

    thanks for the reply,

    we had a guy from avid Finland on the site and he concluded this to be a bug in avid 8.5.2.

    For some reason avid does not delete the folder that's created when importing and that's the reason why we get old import with the new one.

    Now I'm ready to come back to this side of the universe :)
