    Media Indexer issue

    I am now getting the following error messgae when launching MC - 'Could not connect to the Media Indexer. Verify the health of the Media Indexer service.' Then if I proceed it says 'You don't have access to MediaIndexer'.

    This never used to come up before and I'm not sure why it's come up now.

    Any advice?

    Are you working on an Interpay-connected Media Composer? If you don't have IP in your facility, someone made a change to your settings to point it to one.

    I don't have InterPlay. How can I change my settings back again?

    So did you, by any chance, upgrade your software or install a patch recently? Most often when we see this it is because a customer ran an installer and chose to install the Media Composer Interplay version rather than the Stand alone MC software.

    Is that possible?

    I installed Glue Tools software to enable me to work with Phantom cine footage within MC. I wasn't aware of an InterPlay option though. I am not aware of any other bits of software that might be relevant. What should I do now?

    Can you give support a call? they can walk you through reseting your system to a stand alone state.

    It's actually not that complicated but it's more than we want to do on the forums.

    I would start by unistalling the Glue Tools to see if that changes anything. If not, support can get you up and running again. Let me know if you run into any snags and I can advocate for you.

     

    Call 1-800-800-Avid and have your system ID ready to input into the phone tree.

    Open the Console.

    Type "workgroupoverride ON"

    Restart.

    Poof!

    AVID man, AVID fan (since 1993 with version 4.5 - before multiple tracks!)...like to solve my own problems and I try not to bother anyone unless I'm really stumped.

    Now if Avid could figure out why we're being given Interplay installs. I suspect it has something to do with their new(er) licensing model.
