Asynchronous calls to the Web Services

Nobody bit when I mentioned this in another post, so I just thought I'd bring it up in a thread of its own...

In an attempt to work around the slowness of certain calls (GetChildren, FindRelatives, GetFileDetails) I experimented with calling the WS asynchronously, ie. making the request, going off to do other work and getting notified when the response comes in.

I found, however, that it took twice as long to receive the response, compared to if I just sent the request and waited.

This must surely be to do with the Java SOAP package I'm using - Axis2 - so I'm wondering if anyone could recommend another Java SOAP package.

I'd also be interested to know if anyone else has tried using the WS asynchronously.

    Geoff.

    Geoff,

We have had success using Apache CXF. It can be used for asynchronous SOAP calls:

Cheers Rob. I'll give it a go some time.
