When parked on a frame in both the source and record side of the timeline the parked frame is blown up, looks like a 400% zoom in. When I play it goes away, but it's making it really tricky to work with. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks! Spencer

You have zoomed into the monitors, probably while in effects mode. Look for 'Reduce' and 'Enlarge' buttons. They look like a magnifying glass with a plus and a minus in them. Likely, you'll see them somewhere on your buttons in Effects mode. Otherwise, open the Command Palette, choose Active Palette, and under FX, second column from the left, you will find them there.

thank you for the responce. the picture looks normal until i make an in point, then the frame is blown up, this happens on both sorce and record side. when i use the magnifying glass, it makes the blown up image smaller - if that make sense, you still can't see the full image. attached is a screen shot of what it looks like. keep in mind, when i clear the in point it apears normal. it's really frustrating. thanks for your help!

I have exactly the same problem when using software on a Imac 27 retina 5k machine. Makes editing painful have yet to find a solution.

I have this issue with my Retina MacBook Pro with Media Composer 8.4. My work around is to adjust the size of the Source/Record Monitor and the issues goes away until you close/restart Media Composer.

Does the problem persist with a New User Setting and with the MC State and Site Settings files deleted (or moved so they won't be used)?

nothing changes with new user setting. how do i find the mc state and site settings files, where do they live?

in the meantime, i figured out a work around. i have to manualy resize the record and source window everytime i open avid. that fixes it, but it’s annoying because i have to do everytime. any other thoughts on how to fix?

MC State and Site Settings files are found in Applications/Avid Media Composer/Settings

You can move them elsewhere, restart Media Composer and they'll be recreated.  If you want to restore to the prior version, just move those files back into that location.

You'll also find MCState at (Mac) Boot Volume/Macintosh HD>Users>Shared>AvidMediaComposer>Avid Users>"your current system username".

I think I deleted these but not 100% sure, so when my current transcode finishes I'll give it a go.

I do the same monitor adjustment to remove the issue.

Do you have the ProRes codec install on your machine? Have you made a "Send to QT Movie" export preset? This is one of the ones I use.

That's the only solution for me so far. Any minor resizing ajustment in the Composer with the mouse cursor and the issue is gone (until next editing session...)

Maybe this bug has something to do with the OS X (currently MC 8.4 is not certified to run on OS X 10.10.4, which is the version I have on my Retina MacBook Pro Mid-2014).

I hope MC 8.4.1 will fix this bug (and others, like the "quick-trim" bug).

I had this problem in Yosemite with 8.4.  I went back to Mavricks and the problem was gone.  I have found Yosemite very unstable and finally decided to skip it.  I hope the next OS is better.

I am on 10.9.5 and have the same issue with my Retina MacBook Pro.

Same issues here- just updated to 10.10.5 and MC 8.4.1.

Had the same prob with 10.10.3 and MC 8.4.0- had hoped the update would fix it.

Tried deleting MCState, no good. Not going to recreate user settings as I will be upset if that doesn't work either...

Resizing composer window seems an effective temp fix- maybe it's a 5K retina thing.

Not a big issue re-creating user settings. You can eitehr export out your current settings so you can restore later if you need to or just make a fresh set with a different user name.

User settings are the most common issue with odd faults like this and one of the first troubleshooting fixes.

Don't recreate everything. Just make a new user (don't use one already lurking around) and test for the issue. If it's fixed then rebuild the user settings as needed. If it doesn't fix then just go back to your original settings.

I have the exact same issue. I'm working on Avid 8.4.2 and Yosemite 10.10.5.
Everything was fine on Avid 8.0 and Yosemite 10.10.5. Only after upgrading to 8.4.2. the issue appeared.

Are there any news on that bug? The workaround of resizing the composer window once every session workes for now but is not a long term solotion.
