keep out point after edit is made

I have been searching everywhere, but I can't find out how to keep my (in and) out points on my timeline after I make an edit.  My co-workers are all frustrated at this as well.  Every other non-linear editing system I've used has this feature, so AVID must!  I have been trying different settings, but nothing has worked.  Please let me know!  Thank you!

    Jenrae,

Park your timeline cursor in the middle of the clip you just edited in, and hit "T" on the keyboard.  Your in and out points will appear.

Yes, that is what I have been doing (using the T button), but that adds time for each edit, and when you are working in a time crunch news setting, it really slows us down.  So frustrating.  Is there some sort of AVID contact to send suggestions?  Literally every editor at my work is asking about this.
