Adman is completely correct. Avid always lags behind new OS releases and patches because they have no control on what Apple is changing until they get it, then they need to do extensive testing and upddate their software. If you are a businesss, nothing is gained by quick OS updates - we value stability above all else becuase it keeps the machines running and money coming in. We have updates turned off on all of our machines, and our operators know not to initiate any update without permission. We always wait until Avid approves an OS update before installing the update. Of course, Apple does not make it easy with their constant updates - you need to be viligant about turning their update option back on when you turn it off.
Thanks Adman, just needed reassurance Avid are on the case which is good to hear. We'll stick it out until a new release whenever that might be. Appreciate you responding so quickly.
No need to do a 'clean install'.
Install OS 10.10.0 over 10.10.3 and then install the 10.10.2 Combo update.
And good idea to do a SMC reset afterwards.
Too bad we have to do this, this time. There is a lot of good new stuff in 10.10.3.
Including a Pro Video Update to do afterwards that adds MXF recognition in the finder.
Very useful!

Actually, you don't have to do this. I have this bug since 2 weeks, and I am living and working with it. (I actually did a major project on it.)Yes, it is annoying, and to be honest: I haven't seen a bug of this kind and weirdness from AVID (especially after a rather minor OS update) in 10 years.
BUT: you get used to it. At least it's very stable and doesn't crash when you hit the wrong button. So, it's fine. It works. You can work. Still: that doesn't mean that you can relax now AVID!! ;)
i have the same thing, it was fine till i did a security update today, can't make a dissolve or do anything with open window.
Apple has released a new patch for safari 8.0.6 in the appstore. This seems to does the trick the exportwindows are back and i doesn't seem to beep freeze anymore! I think safari is like explorer on windows some kind of major engine for MACOSX.
rolfio:This seems to does the trick
Didn't work for me...same problem still
Safari patch did not work for me either, same problems - windows in Avid for functions like render/mixdown etc continue to freeze, also the progress bar randomly disappears for a lot of functions, plus getting timeout issues occasionally
I'm having this problem too. I'm just going to go back to MC 8.3 I think, there wasn't much of a change besides these minor bugs.
MC v8.4 has been released, which is supported on OS X 10.10.3.

Awesome! When will 8.4 be in my download center to update? Haven't seen it there yet.
Mike
As long as your support contract is valid, it should be in there now.
Horray! MC 8.4 seems to have solved the problems listed on this post with Yosemite 10.10.3. Thankyou Avid!
I'll make sure I let the engineers know you guys are happy.
thansk for the feedback... so often we get told whats wrong - not whats right!
