Hello,
just got a HP Z820 with Quadro K2000 and BlackMagic DeckLink 4K Extreme.
I have two 27" monitors that I use as normal computer monitors, but I also have a 40" full HD TV that I can connect to the BlackMagic card with HDMI, but I can't figure out how to enable playback on the TV from Media Composer. I do not have manuals, and I have no experience with using hardware solutions before.
Anyone have tips?
(The button I suspect toggles external monitor on/off on the bottom under the timeline is disabled)
Have you installed the Black Magic Desktop software? FWIW A new Intensity Pro 4K is working here with W7 SP1 and MC8.3
I'm running the latest Desktop Video softare here and everything is working fine.
If the little cog wheel above the timeline is active then MC is seeing your hardware. Also when you go to Settings-Video Out inside Avid it shold launch the BM settings program where you can choose how your video should be output.
I am running the Desktop Video software.
This cog wheel, where is it, how does it look?
I have no "Video Out" in settings in Avid...
If you don't see the cog wheel on the right of the buttons above the standard timeline, then likely your drivers or hardware are not installed correctly.
Try using the Black Magic Media Express software to test if you can get a video signal working from outside of MC.
Thanks for the help. I was now able to get the signal through to my TV from the DeckLink card after installing the newest Desktop Video drivers and rebooted, after that Avid MC restarted and then the MC main windows was titled "Avid Media Composer Decklink Extreme 4K" and the button for external display and the options showed "video out". I dont know why it did not work before, as Desktop Video already was installed, maybe too old version, or something with the order of what is installed of MC and DV.
It all works fine now thanks to your helpful input :-)
If you install or update the BM drivers before MC isnatlled the BM software doesn't install the required driver for MC so MC then just runs in software only mode.
Glad it's fixed.

Quite right Pat re: "If you install or update the BM drivers before MC isnatlled the BM software doesn't install the required driver for MC so MC then just runs in software only mode."
On a totally clean Win 7 to Win 10, MC 8.4 to 8.7.2 upgrade (where I had installed the BM card before MC) I did not see the Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K. I re-installed the BM software and presto, video! Thanks.
I HAVE A LENOVO THINKING STATION D20 AND A DECKLINK SDI 4K CARD I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO LINK O ENABLE A AVID MEDIA COMPOSER 8.7.2 FOR PLAYBACK IN A HD TV MONITOR WITH HDMI, I ALLREADY HAVE A CONVERTER FROM SDI TO HDMI.
CAPS = shouting. Dont shout please.
What version of Video Desktop is installed? that is the software that assist with this setup. Once you've installed the correct software/drivers..... you should notice that when MC is starting the Blackmagic card is mentioned - right at the very top of the screen where it says 'Media Composer'.
As James@seemless already said...... go to Settings-Video Out inside Avid it shold launch the BM settings program where you can choose how your video should be output. If you don't see the cog wheel on the right of the buttons above the standard timeline, then likely your drivers or hardware are not installed correctly.
Note that Pat Horridge mentioned..... if you install or update the BM drivers before MC isnatlled the BM software doesn't install the required driver for MC so MC then just runs in software only mode.
