Earlier versions of MC (E.g. v6) used to output timecode in the HD-SDI output via Kona cards. It's gone in v8!
While I appreciate the features in the new version (background rendering, updated application updater, etc.) NOT providing timecode out through playback is a major setback.
Can you please fix this in your next build?
I'm sure there are lots of folks in the same boat: We use Kona or other 3rd party cards to feed client monitors and scope/finish our work by piping it into an Ultrascope (or similar) for automated error checking. No timecode out the HD-SDI is more than a minor inconvenience- it's crippling.
Thanks in advance for addressing this.
I am confused. I was under the impression that MC NEVER ouptut TC via 3rd party IO. Only Avid IO.

I would love to know how you set this up. It would be worth downgrading a system for this.
Thanks,

While I'm not sure of Avid's official stance on this, I most certainly did have timecode out my system via my Kona LHi card HD-SDI output in the past. I've cut together several broadcast docs all error corrected/scoped in the same way:
Output out of MC via Kona LHi's HD-SDI port
This feeds client monitor & a Black Magic Ultracope, where I used it's (awesome) error checking mode to find issues. All with VITC displayed/updated in real-time.
Anyway a year goes by & now I'm trying to scope & finish up a few projects with MC 8.2. And now (when project is due tomorrow :-) I find no timecode out the HD-SDI line.
All of my hardware is the same. The only things different are new versions of Mac OS, Quicktime, and MC.
FYI When it was working I was running MC v6 and the Mac OS/Quicktime version in my outdated sig (10.8.2).

Have you changed any AJA drivers in the mean time? The AJA Avid Open IO plug? I wonder if these could be the issue.
Yes- I did change the drivers- so there's one more variable. The AJA driver installed was whatever was current back in 2012-13. When I have some time I might try reverting back- but I'm not sure they'll work with 10.9.5. I'm guessing it's an Avid issue since FCP still works fine with it.... I'll post back if I find anything new.
thanks
