    Avid Everywhere interplay / cloud

    Hey All,

Anyone have experience using the Media Composer | Cloud (interplay) platform?  Everything I've read says it works with ISIS but doesn't specify if it will work with anything else (ie facilis terrablock, or even just local RAID storage).

Wondering if it works as well as my understanding of it works.. all of my media is stored in house on Terrablock, but if I have my Avid at home can I really edit using the media stored at work via proxies? is it as smooth as they say? audio and everything?  Then the sequences are automatically updated or do I make AAFs to import whenever I'm back in the office?

Anyone's experiences with this would be greatly appreciated, and whether it works with terrablock and local storage as well.  thanks!

Re: Avid Everywhere interplay / cloud

    Justin,

I don't think they sell it without ISIS.  I recently got a proposal, and when I asked where they could trim, it was MC cloud that could go, but not the ISIS.  The one thing I do know, is the "snappiness" of the MC cloud is directly linked to how good of an internet connection you have wherever you are.

    Hope this helps . .

Currently, Avid ISIS is the only one approve, though I have heard Avid is looking to expand that to other 3rd party SAN. No specifics at this point.

You need Interplay with ISIS storage to use MC|Cloud.

Yes, MC|Cloud uses an HP server with Linux Red Hat to compress media stored in the ISIS and transmit it in real-time. How smooth it is depends on the connection between your computer and the remote server.

You are logged on as if you are a local ISIS/Interplay user. Projects are updated in real-time (with bin locks) like any other Unity/ISIS projects. You can open, edit, save and close bins like you normally do with Avid shared projects.

FYI - You can interface with the remote server in 2 different ways - real-time project sharing and real-time proxy streaming within MC. Or, use a web browser to view clips, simple edits and log.

It requires a lot of IT considerations (bandwidth, firewall, switching, etc.). Be aware of this.
