Please allow us to work in 4K. it's long overdue and something I've been asking for 3+ years.
A lot of things Avid does well. Many of us would like to see Avid get with the times and unlock this...even if it means allowing 3rd party hardware to make this happen in the short term.
And 10-bit (or greater) colour correction. With power windows.
jtorrie:And 10-bit (or greater) colour correction.
The colour corrector already works in 12 bit- but yes, using animatte to create windows on extra video layers is a real pain.
The CC tools have not been updated since meridien days...

Is that kinda with allot of things? Avid, I love them. I mean LOVE i would get an avid tattoo ok too far but... it pains me that they start a feature and leave it out to dry. Title tool? multicam, I mean why can't I updated that after I created one? and why cant I make the color wheel window larger ore smaller? I hate floating windows and seeing my desktop ( i want to be in the app Im using completely) and blend modes OMG i could go on. Its time with this next update to be feature RICH since its going to be a subscription then they have to justify the 50 a month or whatever for 1 app they cant just make us pay and never update in but once a year that would SUCK. OK i digress...But I love avid
Cheers
Forget about 4K in the near future. I think we will see 4K in Avid only when they make own (not 3rd party) new IO device with new resulutions.
Meantime, there's this just shown at NAB. "Using NVIDIA Quadro K6000, users can now debayer up to 6K RED files in real time using Adobe Premiere Pro." Maybe in MC8 later this year.
Meantime it is probably worth a look at Resolve with it's 32 bit float media handling. This allows the use of import LUTs to control Timeline and Monitoring display sizes. Final rendering allows for any size "exporting" This would appear to me to be the most flexible and future proof method.
I think this technology would be an essential component of any "new" Avid Video engine. Added bonus would be if you need video media to follow your media to Audio Post (Protools). Great the same new engine would works just as well there. (just select appropriate LUTs.) Simple, effective and reliable what more could Editors and Audio engineers ask for!
