We have a mac pro desktop system with OS 10.6.8 and Symphony 5.5.3.
A client brought in a bunch of F55 footage, so we upgraded to Media Composer 7 with Symphony option.
Here's the problem, Media Composer 7 requires an updated OS. Avid told us it works fine with Mavericks 10.9.1, but Apple only provides 10.9.2.
You can buy 10.9.1, but it takes 3 days to get. We have to make air sooner than that. We are furious that apple can't send us the OS link sooner.
What can we do?
Thanks!
I think I may need more detail. You shouldn't need to wait for the mail to deliver software.
Apple OS upgrades are done through the App store. Do you not have a Mac somewhere that has the App Store on it?
If you do, buy they upgrade, download it and follow the instruction to make a bootable install disk:
http://www.macworld.com/article/2056561/how-to-make-a-bootable-mavericks-install-drive.html
BTW...10.9.2 is fine for MC7.0.3.
In agreement, Unity. In Disagreement, Discussion. In all things, Charity.
We have the APP STORE and we can buy MAVERICKS, but it's the new version that AVID MC 7 does not yet support. The App Store does not let you buy older versions of their OS that you can instantly download.
So are you saying the latest version of Mavericks works with MC7 just fine? Avid says different.
Yep, works fine. We just have not completed testing. I have it on my system. Apple's .x updates are, typically, not enough to break our stuff but we don't officially support them until they have been thoroughly QC'd.
From one editor to another, if you are in a jam and need to get this out, go with 10.9.2
Thanks, man!
Jason NLC:So are you saying the latest version of Mavericks works with MC7 just fine? Avid says different.
Listen to BLKDOG. He works for Avid, and he knows his stuff. If he says it works, it works.
WWLD?
I have 10.9.2 update on a couple of iMacs running V7.0.3 and apart from some odd permission issues on older training projects it seems to all work fine (the projects worked ok on 10.9.1)
We resolved the permissions problems by rebuilding the projects.
