Media Composer and new Mac Pro

Heard today that that Media Composer won't work with the new Mac Pro because the app searches for an audio IN interface on the computer when it starts up.  Since the new Mac Pro doesn't have an audio IN jack/interface, it causes the app to crash.

Anyone else heard this?  Pretty cray.

Re: Media Composer and new Mac Pro

Hi Uli, there are some threads about this, they seem to just add an audio interface to fix it, do a search for those threads

My understanding is even an audio interface like an AJA IOXT doesn't do the trick.

Try to search, download and use  Soundflower OS X system extension - you can create "virtual" audio in device and it works well with our 6-cores New MacPro so we can use MediaComposer 7.03 with no problem.

I have posted this same issue a few weeks back.  Easiest fix is to just plug in some type of headset with a mic. I connected an old phone headset I no longer use and that seems to satisfy AVID so it loads up fine now.

I had a similar issue on a PC recently. MC wouldn't launch as no audio hardware found. Turns out the onboard sound speaker was disconnected. Plugged a set of headphones into the rear speaker jack and MC launched happily.
