You can open as many timelines as you like.  you access them from the dropdown menu just above the Record Window - where your currently active sequence name is displayed.

    Re: Open second timeline

You can switch between used sequences in timeline with the pulldown menu in upper right corner of "record"(right) viewer window but you can directly work only with one at time... but you can grab another sequence from bin and drop it in "source"(left) viewer window and use it as a clip...  Switch timeline view with "Toggle Source/Record in Timeline" button (which is located bottom left Timeline window) to narrow your edit.. maybe this is solution for you..

    Re: Open second timeline

Sorry, I have to clarify my wish: I want to actually SEE two timelines in two seperate timeline windows at the same time.

Thanks for you tips, thats just the way I do it, but it involves so much switching back and forth.

Do you actually look at both timelines simultaneously, or do you switch your eyes between them?  If the former you can do that too with a mouse click at the bottom left of the timeline.

I also use Lightworks, where you can have as many timelines active simultaneously as you can fit on the screen.  I still only look at one at a time.

One in the Source Viewer and the other in the Record Viewer, gang them together and  " play" with holding the right arrow key down , have you tried if this is something useful for you

    Re: Open second timeline

I agree. This would be a helpful option at times to visually compare two sequences at one time.
