Hello,
I'll be moving to the Los Angeles area in a few months and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good school to learn Avid?
I've been trying to teach myself, through online tutorials and trial and error, and I've learned some of the basics, but I think it's time to take the next step and learn from a pro.
I've checked out some of the film schools, Brooks, L.A. Film School, etc. and the tuition is just too high. I looked into the Los Angeles Community College, but they have a lot of bad reviews. The Edit Center looked pretty good, but they edit mostly with Final Cut, and they are in New York.
I look forward to hearing your suggestions!
Steve

Thanks Randall!
Those look great!
Hi steve -
Have you looked into Lynda.com? Really well done on-line training, not just one-off tutorials you will find on youtube. Check out the Media Composer link HERE.

Thanks Switthaus,
Lynda.com is great! I'm doing the Avid Essential Training right now. That will definitely help until I get into a school.
I think that one of the main benefits of school is networking, and the possible job placement assistance. Internships and things like that.
Thanks for the link!

Agreed!
I have been subscribed there for over 2 years now.It is not only useful for Avid Tutorials - but everything else of importance to an editor as well.
Highly recommended - well worth the fee
