    DS EOL'ed?

There is some noise on the Google DS-List that resellers have been telling customers that DS has been EOL'ed.  Can someone confirm this or can we chalk it up as a nasty rumor?

Well, since resellers in LA have been telling me this for the last 7 years, I would take it all with a huge pile of salt. And having been on both sides of the business now, I would say all but a handful of those guys are completely worthless. Their level of expertise is about as deep as my shoe.

Interesting.  Seems a bunch of re-sellers are singing this tune.  Hope you guys are right.  Thanks.

And most recently of all, a "Avid Toga Party" was held from which we have received more than two dozen reports of individual acts of perversion SO profound and disgusting that decorum prohibits listing them here.

So long DS, and thanks for all the fish.

I spoke to Marianna a few minutes ago, and wanted to pass this along.  DS 11.x will continue to be supported for at least a year, including some future development and maintenance releases.  As she mentioned above there will be more details by the end of the week.

    Re: DS EOL'ed?

Well, Media Composer certainly could use some of the more advanced DS features, so there could be a lot of future work in that alone....

    who made this desicion?

i am working on DS now for more than 10 years and i am still convinced

than it is the best online-tool for tv and cinema.

i am trying to stay polite but this is really a stupid idea.

with just a little more effort it could have been the absolute marketleader.

    look at fusion !

    how did they do it?

they are still alive and they did not get about 300 000 $ from me.

that is how much i gave avid over the years for DS.

and now? is this the way to treat a loyal customer.

how shall i trust avid anymore?

think twice about it or give it to a company who will do some further development for DS.

sorry if i sound impolite but i am very angry.

While I doubt it will happen I do think DS could have a future outside Avid.

    just wishfull thinking......

i still can not understand that are they killing my  darling !

just started to increase my knowledge of eyeon fusion.

it seems that they do have a better understanding of the

    postproduction market.

if they manage to do an editing solution .....

    then avid is history....

    at least for me.

    Re: DS EOL'ed?

This is very disappointing news.  I can only hope that Avid will push the better parts of DS into Symphony or Media Composer or alternatively create a new product.

Our company has been assessing how to best upgrade our finishing facilities, it would have been nice to continue to invest in DS but now Smoke looks like the leading option.  As good as MC and Symphony are they just don't have the tools to do the job DS was tailor made for.

And I only just finished a new showreel!  This is what DS allowed me to do - http://vimeo.com/roricam/rorygavinreel
