drbgaijin:I do not feel any need to involve myself more in this thread, as I feel that you and Bilbo as well as some others are already doing a good job of ironing out your "differences".
Hi Douglas,
what do you mean with that? Which differences are meant???
Greets, Bilbo
I love words, even if they make me crazy and are responsible for most of the fights and wars. I don't like these last two.
bilbo:what do you mean with that? Which differences are meant???
Hello Bilbo,
Sorry that my english did not translate very well.
I did not say - differences, I said "differences" - to me there is a difference there. The two " " make the difference.
What I was meaning started with your first reply to Damien, "Hi dear french editor!I read your post and indeed didn't uderstand everything so I'd like to ask for clarity.1. ---> What do you mean with compositing?. . . . . . . "
I meant that you did not understand exactly what he was meaning.... then you asked..... he answered..... you replied and so on - until you began to understand each other......
I hope that explains things a little clearer.
Now, to quote myself : "I do not feel any need to involve myself more in this thread"
Regards,
Douglas

Hi Douglas, Hum, this sounds like you are upset, that's why I tried to understand why it was so and thought the "differences" could be a hint! Hey, as we know, editors are very sensitive people... They actually have to be! Greets, Bilbo

I hope that he is not upset! I know that Douglas loves AvidFx. For my part, I consider that this software - I don't know, perhaps I am wrong - should be used for complex compositions, not for a simple compositing mode that has become indispensable for many of us. We talked a lot of compositing mode, but I've also made 7 other proposals. I hope that we can discuss about it (I do not refer only to Bilbo but to all forumers)
+1 on all your wishes
I can totally feel your pain. I can absolutley not understand why there won't be any more blend options nativley after all these years.
Having "screen, lighten, darken, overlay..." modes available can't be the craziest thing to ask for to be implemented in a video editing application. Avid FX or not, of course you can always use an external software to get what you want. But the point of this "Avid Product Feature Request" thread is to ask for things that might speed up workflows. I would even go so far to say that 90% of the effects you have in your standart Avid effects library is pretty much useless and that you can achieve a lot of realy complex compostitng with just a handful of effects except for these simple blend mode options. I just don't get it.
Same thing with Animatte, why can I not draw a mask and move the "cut-out" wherever I want. I can only move the mask wherever I want while my cut out image will stay in place, yes, I know that you need a resize/PIP/3D effect underneath your Animatte but thats always a rule of thumb estimate to find the right position to your mask.
Would love it see those features being implemented one day.
Thanks mr_zoom! You are only the second to give me a + 1, I was going to end up thinking that I was the only one having these needs! I hope that others will come, it is the best way to ensure that developers understand our needs!
To help you with the mask, here is what I do, that works well (this does not preclude that I totally agree with your request!)
V1: the background
V2: the foreground image
V3: a black title on which you apply a paint.
You draw your mask in white.
In the end, you are therefore a kind of alpha channel.
On the V3 you apply the mattkey effect.
This mattekey then becomes a kind of "layer parent" similar a After Effect.
I am well aware that the procedure is boring, but it is more reliable than to move two tracks simultaneously.
+1 to be able to draw a mask and then move it as you want.
I agree wholeheartedly with #4! Give us the OPTION, as we had in the past, to use either simple or advanced effects keyframes. The current state of affairs amounts to a huge slowdown in workflow.
Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. Never thought about using the title tool to create alpha channels (always used photoshop instead). Makes sense even though it doesn't sound like a time saver ;-)
Can I add 4K dnxhd flavour please so I can buy my camera already.

"Time saving" would be what you asked for :-)
All this features are still requested ;-)
