    what would the process be....

to use Adobe media encoder to make a file that coul dbe dragged directly to the MXF folders where avid stores its media.

Im wanting to see if ame handles spanned avchd clips any more reliably / better than avid.

what file should i be making in ame. etc etc

    Cheers

as far as I know AME alone doesn't support spanned clips (I say this because I use it for transcoding because it's much faster than letting MC do it). I do know that you can let PPro import the first spanned clip (actually it onlys shows the first one anyway) then export it choosing "add to render queue" or whatever it is, then AME will work with spanned clips well.
