Pro Tools SE, Keystation 61es, MIDI

I just bought an M-Audio Keystation 61es.  I can not get Pro Tools SE to recognize the "receive from" tab under "Preferences-Control Surfaces."  It is a plug and play system, so it is not the drivers and Windows recognizes the Keystation via USB.  Tried keyboard track, armed the track, no sound.  It is not even registering on my Fast Track C400 or on the master volume meter....this leads me to believe Pro Tools is not getting any kind of a signal.  When Pro Tools starts up I also get an error message, "DigiMIDIService could not be acquired."  I am at a total loss.

    Equipment:

    HP Pavilion Laptop

    Windows 8 64-bit

AMD A8-4500M APU with Radeon HD Graphics 1.90 GHz

    4 GB Ram

    Fast Track C400

    Pro Tools SE

    Keystation 61es

Thank you in advance for any help.
