Mac OS 10.8.2???
10.8.3's been out for quite a while now, and 10.8.4's been out for a while too. Does it mean they are ruled out or are they just not tested? I heard a lot of people run on 10.8.3 with no hassle.
EDIT: just read the Read-Me file, it states that 10.8.2 and 10.8.3 are approved.
I'm verifying that, because I was told one thing and the readme says another.
It doesn't mean ruled out, it just means not extensively tested. It's harder to deal with new OS'es during the middle of beta testing for a new release, which is what I am sure Avid is focused on.
Twice I've tried to install 6.5.3 and twice my mac (certified) has kernel panicked and died.....any suggesti ok ns, i did the usual uninstall, deaithorise etc
I have the same macbook pro crush when tried to uninstall 6.5.2.1, the same was with previous versions. Only way works for me is first unistall programm using old 6.5.01 dmg installer then install new version with new installer.
Def the most solid feeling 6.5 to date for me. Very snappy and responsive, even on Black Magic hardware. Hardware release actually works now. Pretty happy. Hope ver 7 feels this smooth in a couple weeks.
Uninstalled previous version. Can´t install 6.5.3 on my certified MBP. Kernel Panic. Back to 6.5.2.1
Honestly I hate editing.
Anyone getting kernel panic on installation attempt, check out this knowledgebase tip - I haven't tried with 6.5.3 yet, but this procedure has solved the same problem for me with 6.5.2:

Thanks man, that worked!
I have a quick question about upgrading. We have three machines running Avid here at my office. I want to upgrade them all to 6.5 (and eventually 7 this week). Do I need to purchase upgrades with the same Avid accounts they were purchased from initially? I'd like to keep everything under one account.
In short, can I just purchase the right upgrade with any account, and as long as I have the System ID it will work? Thanks.
"Important v7/v11 information! The v6.5.3 release is recommended for those customers who will need to exchange bins and projects created in the soon-to-be-released Media Composer v7."Wait whats the problem with sharing bins here? Does MC 7 not share bins with previous versions of Media Composer?
There have been some under the hood changes that will make v7 not backward compatible with older versions of MC. So, Avid has released patches for v6.0.x and v6.5.x, which will work with bins created in v7.
You can always bring an older bin TO v7, just not backwards unless you are running the latest version of v6.0.x and v6.5.x software.
This is also required if you are on Symphony because your dongle/software activation will have to be able to to support both Symphony v6.x and "Media Composer v7 w/Symphony Option" should you choose to go back and forth between versions.
Gotcha that makes sense thanks for clarifying.

I need some help!
I upgraded 2 x 6.03 systems to 6.5.3 this week in anticipation for 7.0. It is a little disasterous for me - glitches on output (AJA Kona 3) I have not been able to get a 24 minute episode to tape this week and need to roll back - but Symphony says I amnot licensed when I tried to install 6.0.3.2 again. What version will work with my 6.5.2/3 license?
Thank you!
FOLLOW UP Gitches was AJA Kona 3 Driver 10.4.5 which I was told by AJA is not good for my machine - reverted to 10.4.4 which killed the Glithes. Marianna sorted me out with the license issues and I am happy! :)
