    Re: In Memoriam Larry Rubin

I never personally got to meet Larry, but like countless others I saw on a daily and even hourly basis his dedication, knowledge, caring and most of all, his generosity on these forums.  My condolences go out to his family and they should know that he was so greatly appreciated for his compassion for others here.  He will be missed, but not forgotten.

I've been away from the boards for a while, and I've just heard the news.  Larry was really one of the most altruistic and giving people I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with.  He will be an incredible loss to this forum board.  I still remember how we helped each other deal with the passing of Sep nearly 5 years ago.  A very very sad day.

    Re: In Memoriam Larry Rubin

When I first met Larry, he was a voice on the phone..word on email. A guy who didn't know me from Adam, but who took the time to lead me by the hand through my Avid challenges, here in the States, in Afghanistan, Africa, even Korea.  When I finally met him, I was met with a huge smile, an offer of pistachios, and an invite to lunch.  I learned Larry likes to cook for his family on holidays, that he rides a bicycle with earnest and really believed in the good of most people. My regret is that I didn't get to know him more. What I do take away from knowing Larry is that this is the kind of person I want to be like. He will be missed...a lot.

    Re: RIP Larry Rubin

I'm sorry to hear this.  I've lost track of the times that Larry was willing give a gentle push in the right direction or offer up a pearl of wisdom gathered from his years of experience.

His absence will be felt on our forums.

    Yes\

I think that describes him so well! He was, and will always remain, a role model on how humanity could also be. The best way to honour him is to try to be more like him if you aks me.

    Re: RIP Larry Rubin

I am stunned . . . I can barely type through my tears.

The day I first knew Larry was an extra special human being, was the day he responded to a post from a teacher who had received an old Meridian system as a donation. He was completely lost in trying to get it up and running.  Larry responded that he didn't live very far away, and would be happy to come set it up for him.  This, for a complete stranger! What a heart this guy had! I'm blubbering like a baby!

I never met Larry face-to-face.  Only through a few emails and a skype session did we ever have any personal contact - yet I feel like I've lost a brother . . . a very good friend . . . Despite the sadness and the huge sense of loss, there is one thing I can say for sure - Heaven is now a much better place to be . . .

    Goodbye Larry . . .

Jason, on behalf of my entire family thanks.  The funeral will be this coming Friday at 12:30 at King David Memorial Gardens in Falls Church Va as a grave side service. Please pass this on to others. Larry always told me that he was so proud to support this forum.  We will  certainly miss him.

    Steve -

I hope the family is able to see this thread and read all the wonderful comments said about your brother.  He was the best of the best!

When I was sick with cancer, Larry offered to have me speak with your mom ( wonderful lady) who spent time with me and assured me that all would be ok. It was.  That selflessness comes from how your folks brought you kids up and Larry had it in spades.

I always looked forward to his calls to my home which he ALWAYS started with "Hello Dahlink".  He was a true gentleman, a dear friend and a huge advocate for helping and educating others.

A few of the community moderators have a very special bond where they email each other all the time (6 of us including Larry).  We do this several times a week to discuss a recent issue, some debacle that occured, or some Avid departmental issue or to just laugh and joke at a post or ourselves.  Larry never failed to entertain, show humor and was always always happy.

He loved his cat, his Mac, his car, his friends and his family. I was so looking forward to seeing him at the Cape around the 29th for your Mom's 90th birthday.

He was a dear dear friend and I loved him to pieces.  I only wish I had said it to him more often.

My heart is heavy for the family and the DMA /TPC friends he leaves behind. While so many folks on this forum have never met Larry  - they still consider him a friend and part of our family.

    God speed...........

Just another happy memory of Larry came to mind...

Months ago, when I was doing a proposal of a new Avid Forum lay-out and design, Larry really got into it and we both got very excited with every change we made to make it look even better...

It is amazing that while continents apart we consider ourselves a family. It was mostly due to him, he always led the charge. Truly he was the grand patriarch of an extended family spanning accross the globe; an unique family not  related by blood.
